Annual services are essential for pellet burning stoves

29 Oct

In France, owners of stoves need to have their chimneys swept twice per year and we always take this opportunity to give our clients’ stoves a service at the same time.

For example, the baffle plate at the top of the stove can become dirty and this can affect the stove’s ability to draw. During a service, we also check that all the rope seals and glass gaskets are in good condition. If the stove is not gas-tight because the seals need replacing, it will affect how well you can control the stove. By pulling in more air than it should, the stove may burn fuel faster than you prefer.

So, it’s certainly desirable to have your wood burning or multi fuel stove serviced regularly. However, if you own a pellet burning stove, annual services are essential to ensure the stove continues to function efficiently and safely.

Pellet burning stoves feature sensors that monitor everything about the stove, such as temperatures, the way the stove is drawing and carbon monoxide levels. During the hustle and bustle of everyday life, stove owners may only have time to give them a basic clean, so the sensors don’t always receive proper attention. If the sensors start to become dirty, they can malfunction and this could result in the stove shutting down entirely. Not something you want to happen on a cold winter’s night!

Annual services are required to make sure that the warranty on your pellet burning stove remains valid. So, talk to us about booking your next chimney sweep and ask about an annual service too.
