When you’re heating a very large space or looking for a truly stunning focal point, a double sided wood burner could be just the solution you’re looking for.

Any wood burning, multi fuel or pellet burning stove has the power to charm, but the impact of a double burner can be extra special. Even during the summer, when they might go unused for a long period of time, these double stoves can be used to striking effect in the design of a room.

Making a visual statement is often an important consideration for commercial properties, such as bars and restaurants, but this isn’t a case of style over substance. We recently installed a double wood burning stove in a restaurant and the heat benefits were extraordinary – despite having no insulation or double glazing, the management have not had to use the gas heating since.

If you need to heat a very big room or two adjacent spaces, placing a double sided burner in the middle can be a more efficient way to heat a larger area than using two smaller stoves. Installing a double sided woodburner is no more difficult than a single sided woodburner and the same regulations apply.

Although the range of double sided stoves available is not huge, there are still some decisions to make. What type of window on each side would you like, or would you prefer the extra power of a ‘double sided but double depth stove’, which is essentially two stoves back to back? This will naturally give you more heat than a ‘double sided, single depth stove’ and that should be taken into account when assessing the size of your room.
