Wood Stove Servicing & Maintenance

chimney system

Stovesellers also offer to provide installation of metal pre-fabricated insulated flue systems.

If you don't have an existing chimney or you are converting a barn or outbuilding you may not necessarily have a flue in place for a wood burning stove. In this case you can opt to have an insulated metal chimney system fitted. These types of chimney systems consist of a series of insulated pipes which are clipped together. Most systems of this nature can be fitted in one or two days depending on the size and complexity of the system. These systems can be flued internally by passing them through the ceiling and the roof or externally by passing them through a gable wall and up the outside of the building like the one in the photograph opposite. It is important however to consider the position of the stove first when doing this as the French regulations insist that the flue should terminate at least 40cm above the ridge of the roof, so siting the stove in a corner beneath the eaves may not be a very good idea when it comes to trying to acheive this!

These systems come in various sizes and colour options from stainless steel finish to copper or even pink if you want it. There are even a variety of pre-fabricated terminal finishes also which are designed to blend in with the different regions of France which have different chimney stacks and which change from one region to another.

We can supply and fit these systems or if you fancy saving yourself some money, and are not afraid of heights, you could have a go yourself. Contact us beforehand though so that we can ensure that these systems are fitted safely, correctly and in accordance with the building regulations as a badly fitted system could be inefficient, ineffective and dangerous!
